Kate Pedley's Tips & Tricks
Launceston Toyota ambassador & professional triathlete Kate Pedley spends a lot of time on the go! It’s been a busy 2017 for Kate, competing in numerous triathlon events and swapping her beloved ‘Kate’s Cool Corolla’ for a brand new C-HR. So, just how does Kate stay motivated throughout the year? Click below to find out!
How do you stay motivated to train, particularly during the winter months?
You’ve probably heard this before, but lay your gear out the night before, it works! Especially in winter, if it’s there you can layer up and get going without thinking about it. Having a great crew to train with also helps, that’s how Pedley’s Running Group came to be! Mixing it up and trying a different class or activity is a great way to stay motivated as well.
What are your top tips for anyone looking to get into running?
You just need to throw your runners on and make a start. Pick a point and tell yourself you’ll run to that point and so on. Before you know it, you’ll be clocking up the Ks! Find a friend to hit the pavement with, or join a running group – most you’ll find will allow for all running abilities. And remember "if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you!”
Best tips for recovery after a training session?
It’s especially important to have a good stretch and stay warm after a session. My other top tip for year round recovery – coffee!
Finally, tell us what’s coming up for you in the 2017/18 triathlon season?
My first race of the season is the Noosa Triathlon in November (Kate finished 10th in the Elite category – awesome effort!), then my first crack at the Busselton Ironman in December. I had some time off this year due to injury but have been spent a lot of time in the pool so I’m super keen to get back into it!
We wish Kate all the best!
National Tree Day 2017
A big thank you to Riverside Primary School teachers and grade 2 students for once again getting their hands dirty with us in aid of National Tree Day! Toyota Australia have been a proud supporter of this initiative since the year 2000 planting over 20 million trees in that time, making small steps towards improving our national environment into the future.
Launceston Toyota Legends vs. Launceston Football Club
On a Friday night in March we partnered up with our great mates at the Launceston Football Club to officially launch their Tasmanian State League season and have a bit of footy fun! It was a short and sharp game played over 20 minute halves. Even though we had a secret weapon in AFL great Nick Dal Santo on our side, we came away losers by just a point! News and Community
In July 2016, Launceston Toyota launched the Local Legends competition. The competition was aimed to recognise and celebrate our "local" legends, with entrants capturing special local sporting moments on camera and lodging their entry. Launceston Toyota has been inundated with wonderful sporting moment entries captured on camera at various local sporting events. Congratulates Renee Marshall for entering the winning photo of cyclist Zack Gilmore. Renee is stoked with her brand new Toyota Yaris, oh what a feeling!
Toyota Good for Footy Winner!
It was a huge season for the Toyota Good for Footy raffle in 2016! We raised a record $457,690 across 233 local clubs in ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Northern Territory, Victoria & Tasmania. At the end of the day, that means more footies in the kit bag, better club facilities and a stronger game at every level... now that’s Good for Footy!
Launceston Toyota would like to congratulate the overall winner, Mr Peter Bell, who purchased his raffle ticket at Meadow Mews in Launceston. Peter was very happy when he collected his brand new Toyota Fortuner! We’ll be back again next year, as committed as ever to growing this great game and supporting grassroots footy.
